In Traditional Chinese medicine and a French doctor in the last century, auricular acupuncture points are used to access and treat various body parts, illness and emotions. The ear is said to be a microcosm of the entire body in a totality. Please note – a small deposit is normally non refundable should you cancel – but I do allow people to move ceremony one time. As we soaked in a euphoric state, relishing the peace and tranquillity that came with it was a totally new experience. The frog entered so softly and gently, a real night and day difference to the ‘bungee jump’ I was used to. This felt genuinely pleasant, something I’d never been able to say about Kambo before. Read more about Hape here. It became a blissful experience and it felt like this was how the frog intended it to be.
Finding a good kambo facilitator is essential to minimizing the risks of the experience. Kambo not only has severe physical effects; it can also be a trying psychological experience. Then in 2016, a 22-year-old man in Florida died during a joint ayahuasca and kambo ceremony at an event run by the controversial Soul Quest church. After the ayahuasca ceremony, the man was given a kambo dose, and organizers did not notice that he was in distress until it was too late. He died from a fatal imbalance in sodium levels, a known risk of kambo. Additionally, yoga and kambo can be used to facilitate spiritual growth and self-discovery.

In short, an eating disorder will not automatically make you ineligible for kambo treatment, but it may make your treatment riskier or less comfortable. Some indigenous facilitators will be experienced shamans, who understand how to work with a number of plant medicines in addition to kambo. People who have just taken ayahuasca, and been on the no-salt dieta, are at an increased risk of hyponatremia following kambo. To reduce the risks of hyponatremia, facilitators must avoid giving their participants too much water (under two litres is safe). Kambo is a powerful medicine, and it can help people with a variety of diseases and disorders—but it is not appropriate for all people.

About 15 minutes before the medicine is applied, you will drink about 1-1.5 liters of water. Kambo is applied to the skin generally on the shoulders, however, working with the energy lines in the body, such as Chinese medicine, it can open up other energetic blockages. A small stick is used to burn the first layer of skin with a number of points, completely dependent on the person.
